Holy crap!

We went to meet John Edwards tonight, and it was great to hear him speak and to shake his hand, but holy crap, something even neater happened!

Madeline Stowe (of 12 Monkeys, China Moon, Bad Girls, and The Last of the Mohicans) was there, and we got to meet her afterwards - she had drawn a surprisingly small crowd, so we were easily able to speak with her, shake her hand, tell her how much we love her films, and get our picture taken with her! I know you guys could probably give a crap less, but I've always admired her, and she's gorgeous, and holy shit! I can't believe the woman put her arms around us for a photo!!!

I don't feel like paying Livejournal so I can post a photo, so if you guys want to see her, just go to Google images at http://www.images.google.com and look her up yourself or click this bad boy: http://images.google.com/images?gbv=2&svnum=10&hl=en&q=Madeline+Stowe&btnG=Search+Images

That was so cool!
I had a good day.

And I got two CDs out of the deal!

But I'm currently unable to stop listening to a song called "I'll Find a Way" by Rachael Yamagata. It's beautiful. I recommend it, if you like pretty things. It makes me want to spoon or something.

We went out to dinner today, and when we were nearly finished, a middle-aged couple was seated at the booth across the aisle from us. In the time it took us to finish up and pay our bill, they received six phone calls and made one more. There phones weren't even on vibrate.

It was almost as annoying as whining/boisterous toddlers in restaurants. And the dude was a big ol' asshole when making his order (no this, extra this, this on the side, etcetera, etcetera, etcetera) and they never once thanked their server. And she was a really good server - the best we've had at that place in months.
I'm starting to have bad reactions to my opiate painkillers...I take it for a nasty headache and I end up feeling pukey and a little dizzy. I needed to talk to my doctor anyway...I sure wish I'd stop having crappy reactions to every single painkiller they put me on.

I got my flu shot today. And a blood test yesterday. My left arm is full of extra holes.

I'm going to go lay down.
Riss went to her folks' place this weekend to let me get some tax school done (it's all online), but something's wrong with the website and I can't log on...so I'm home alone with nothing to do. The reveling-in-my-alone-time time period has expired and now I'm just really bored and I wish Larissa wasn't spending the night in Cedar Falls. This blows.
Two big tests this week. Wish me luck!

Larissa has been taunting me for two weeks about a "birthday suprise" she had planned for me, and all I knew was that it required a reservation, and that it was at 10 a.m. on the 13th.

Turns out she'd seen a commercial for a trail ranch the day after my birthday and gave them a call, and we went trail riding this weekend! I hadn't been on a horse for 12 years - it was awesome! It was just us and a guide and we went horseback riding through a forest for 90 minutes. My horse slipped in some mud when we were going downhill, and he spooked and bolted, but I was more excited than scared. It was so much fun. And don't worry - I got the horse under control quickly. I felt totally comfortable in the saddle. Mentally, not physically. Ouch.

Our cat eats applesauce.
So I'm 24 now. I had a nice weekend. Thanks for all the birthday wishes via facebook and whatnot.
